Structured Recreation:
Daily activities at Home of Joseph are supervised by our dedicated
Youth Care Specialists, who work to promote structure, engagement, and positive peer
interactions throughout each day.
Life Skills:
HOJF provides life skill development by incorporating daily responsibilities which include cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, cooking, and personal hygiene. Our goal is to
demonstrate the following five principles of “showing respect”, “make good choices”, “focus and finish your work”, “negotiate and compromise”, and “build trusting relationships”.
Religious Services:
Home of Joseph Foundation (HOJF) respects and encourages each youth to practice their personal religious and spiritual beliefs. We provide regular opportunities for youth to participate in faith-based activities and services aligned with their traditions and
values. Participation is supported and accommodated to the fullest extent possible, with limitations only in cases where there is a documented threat to the safety of individuals or a significant disruption to the overall structure and order of the program.
On-site recreational activities include:
Basketball, Running/Walking, Gardening, Board Games,
Video Games, Reading & Writing Materials, Scheduled Television Viewing
Nutritional Services:
Balanced daily meals and healthy snacks will be provided. The nutritional
value of each meal is monitored, and each resident’s dietary plan is screened to determine any known food related allergies. Our facility has two certified food managers on site and each staff member is required to have a food handler certificate to ensure proper food preparation.
Off-site recreational activities provide opportunities for community integration and social
development.
Activities like, Movie Theater Outings, Trips to Outlaw Pass, Visits to Local Parks and the Zoo, Skating Rink and Bowling Alley Visits, Participation in Community Events, Volunteer-Based Community Service Opportunities. These experiences are designed to help children build confidence, learn healthy social behaviors, and develop meaningful life skills in a supportive environment.
Education Services:
We have established a strong partnership with VISD Connection, a
program dedicated to supporting students with unique educational needs. VISD Connection provides liaisons who work closely with our staff to ensure each child is appropriately placed according to their academic level and learning requirements. They also assist with school enrollment and ongoing support, particularly for students in foster care, experiencing homelessness, or facing other challenges such as teen pregnancy.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to educational success and ensures that every child at HOJF has the tools, resources, and support needed to thrive academically.
